Hi, I’m Emre Egesel, a London-based artist working under the name Abstractzy. I create original abstract acrylic paintings on canvas, exploring minimalist geometric forms through hand-brushed and spray-applied techniques, sometimes incorporating hand-cut fabric elements.
My work sits somewhere between art and design. I’m interested in how simple shapes, colours, and materials can create atmosphere. Rather than telling a direct story, I focus on balance, rhythm, and quiet presence.
I work in series, including moons and butterflies. The moon pieces feel contained and sculptural, while the butterfly works explore balance and organic movement. Each piece is built slowly, through layering, adjusting, and refining until the composition feels settled.
This way of working comes from my early interest in technical drawing. I used to spend hours creating precise geometric forms by hand, using tools like rulers and compasses. That experience shaped how I think about structure, proportion, and composition. Even now, my work is guided by geometry, but softened through texture, material, and imperfect edges.
I worked as Head of Design for an international company in London, before setting up my own advertising agency and later establishing my own art studio. That background continues to influence how I approach my work today, combining structure with a more intuitive, hands-on process.
I’m drawn to calm, reduced colour palettes. Soft tones, natural colours, and subtle contrasts allow the work to breathe. I’m sensitive to busy environments and noise, so I naturally move towards simplicity and quietness in both my life and my work. I want my pieces to feel steady, balanced, and easy to live with.
Alongside my original paintings, I create minimalist single-line drawings and black-and-white abstract art. These experimental pieces explore simple forms, lines, and textures, offering a different side of my creative practice.
I also create abstract ambient sound pieces using everyday sounds and subtle background noises. Through layering and repetition, I transform familiar sounds into atmospheric compositions focused on texture, mood, and experimentation.
For me, there is a strong connection between sound and visual art. Just as music is built from patterns of sound, I see my paintings as patterns of form, colour, and line. This idea, inspired by classical thinking around geometry and beauty, continues to shape how I work.
Across everything I do, I’m exploring the same idea: how simple elements can come together to create something that feels complete, calm, and quietly expressive.
